Founded and owned by true world explorers, driven by the age-old desire to see what is over the next hill or across the water, the explorer is fueled by the lure of the unknown, the undeniable thrill of discovery, and the enduring enrichment that knowledge brings.
The restaurant was started by an adventuresome couple, Rob and Jen, that had a love for exploring the world. They wanted to create a space where all those with wanderlust could gather and it would feel like home.
Acquired recently, one co-owner was raised in southern Ontario. However they have always had strong ties to the Georgian Bay area, particularly Balm Beach. Their childhood summers were filled with cherished moments at the family cottage in this region. Later in life she spent extensive time traveling worldwide, with a particular interest in Europe and her country of heritage Greece. Despite having traveled extensively worldwide, her heart remains connected to the natural beauty and wilderness of Georgian Bay. Eager to infuse a taste of global culinary experiences into this remarkable corner of the world, she partnered with a family member and purchased Explorers Bistro.
The chef and co-owner of Explorers, hails from Greece and was professionally trained in Belgium, he brings a rich culinary background to Ontario. Raised in the traditions of Greece and honing his skills in the culinary landscape of Belgium, our chef has cultivated a distinctive approach to cooking. Having successfully operated a restaurant in Greece, he has teamed up with family member to embark on a new venture in Canada. His passion lies in showcasing the vibrant flavors of Mediterranean and European cuisines to the people of Ontario.
We are dedicated to engaging with the local community, participating in events, and establishing ourselves as an integral part of the neighborhood.
